one more day at 40% off!

Hey there! Just popping in with a quick reminder that today is the last day of my Black Friday 40% off sale.

My entire shop (minus grab bags & bundles) is 40% off! (sale ends at midnight MST tonight)

So go grab a few more Black Friday bargains while you can!!!

My Black Friday Grab Bag will remain in the store until midnight on Thursday. Then its getting divided up and released into the store separately. So you still have the rest of the week to snag the grab bag.

Has everyone had a nice Thanksgiving weekend? Besides doing ONE crazy midnight sale at the mall, and running the Britt-ish Designs Black Friday FUN, I've pretty much been sick in bed with a nasty cold. HOWEVER - I did pull myself out of bed for a VERY special Christmas project I've been working on with my mom and my aunt!! It's almost done, and I cannot WAIT to show you guys!

Have you entered the Black Friday 'Holiday Magic' Challenge yet? If not, get those entries in before midnight tonight!!! I'll announce the winner first thing Monday morning.

Have a great day! Enjoy those last few hours of the weekend.

Black Friday 'Holiday Magic' Challenge (time's up!)

The challenge deadline has come & gone!! The winner has been announced. Thanks to everyone who entered!!

For me, Thanksgiving is what officially kicks off the Holiday Season! So, I thought for today's special Black Friday challenge we should scrap a Holiday memory. Now, this doesn't need to be a Winter Holiday. ANY Holiday, from Christmas to Easter. From New Year's to the 4th of July! ANY HOLIDAY at all.

If you're anything like me, you have a TON of photos from those Holiday get-togethers! So make sure you scrap AT LEAST 5 photos on your page!!! You can scrap more if you want (You are allowed to repeat the same photo to get up to 5).

And since this is the Black Friday challenge, I want to see something Black on your page BESIDES the fonts and lettering. Black alphas will work, black elements, black on the papers. Just include some black!

And you need to use at least ONE Britt-ish Designs item on your page. Even if its a tiny staple. Anything from freebies, to templates will do!

Post your Holiday Magic LO in the Britt-ish Designs "Challenges Gallery" with proper credits.

Leave love for some of your fellow challenge participants.

And comment back here in this blog post with a link to your LO.
****VERY IMPORTANT - the link to your LO IS NOT the URL at the top of the page when viewing your LO. It's found BELOW your LO in the "file information". It needs to end with "pid=a number". If it ends with "lastup" or "display_media" that's NOT the right link!!!!!****

So to re-cap, here's what you have to do to enter this Holiday Magic Challenge:

1) Scrap ANY Holiday
2) Scrap AT LEAST 5 photos
3) Include something black
4) Use at least one Britt-ish Designs item
5) Post your LO in the Britt-ish Designs "Challenges Gallery" with proper credits
6) Leave some comments for your fellow challenge participants
7) Comment in this post with the link to your challenge LO (ending in "pid=a number")

(One entry per person!)

This challenge ENDS Sunday night at midnight MST!!! All entries must be in before midnight Sunday night (11/28) Mountain Time!

On Monday I'll do a random drawing and that lucky winner will win . . . .

drumroll please . . . .

MY NEXT 4 NEW RELEASES!!!!!

Over the next 4 week, anything new I release the winner of this challenge will be getting for FREE!

Make sure you get those entries in on time! Any questions feel free to comment and I'll comment back with the answers. (Don't stress about the rules. I'm not doing to disqualify you over a technicality!! Just do your best!)

Have a HAPPY HAPPY Black Friday Weekend! I can't wait to see your Holiday Magic Challenge LOs start to fill up the gallery!

Now, I gotta get back to watching the Macy's Thankgiving Day parade. It's one of my favorite things about Thanksgiving!!!

HAVE A MAGICAL THANKSGIVING!

let there be light!

Thanks so much to everyone who has already responded to my plea for a Green Bean Casserole recipe! Lots of you had great tips! I think the verdict is (drumroll please). . .

I'll just go with the recipe on the French's Fried Onion can. SO MANY of you said that's what you use and it sounds yummy and easy to me! There were a few fancier recipes suggested that sounded good, but I think I'll keep it simple for my first go-round! Thanks to you all!!

Progress on our home renovations is really coming along! Today we had the contractor who did our dry wall work come back and install new recessed lights!! We've never had overhead lights in our living room, we only had lamps. So today was a BIG DAY for us!

The lights look wonderful! Josh and I said to each other that this room has never been so bright at night. And my smart husband had the idea of putting the front two lights and the back two lights on different switches with dimmers for watching TV and other times we want a custom light setting. So, not only do we have awesome new lights we have the option of creating whatever mood lighting strikes our fancy!

We could have tried putting in the lights ourselves, but after a lot of thought, and going over our money situation (there's never enough money around the holidays!) we just went ahead and had a professional do them. We didn't have any switches already installed for overhead lights, so we had to wire two three-way switches (since we have a switch by the door and a switch near the hall). Between Josh and my dad they probably could have figured out how to do that, but knowing it was being done exactly right and having it done in just a few hours was worth it! It probably seems silly to be so excited about lights, but its soooo nice! And it really updates the look of our room!

Hey! Did you realize Tangled opens tomorrow?! I'm super excited.

I don't think I'll fight the holiday crowds to see it right away, but I am very excited to see it! I hope its good. If not, I'll be very disappointed.

My mom and I made a special effort to make sure and meet Rapunzel and Flynn Rider at the Magic Kingdom last month. They were adorable and so much fun to meet!

I'll be sure to post a review after we see it. I swear all we do is work on the house these days, but I'm sure we can sneak away for a movie night sometimes in the next couple weeks!

I can't believe Thanksgiving is this week! Time is just flying by. I've got some fun Black Friday fun planned for Britt-ish Designs, so make sure you pay me a visit (more details are coming).

recipe help!

Hey blog readers. Does anyone out there have a tried-and-true Green Bean Casserole recipe they'd be willing to share with me?? I just got my assignment for Thanksgiving dinner. We're going my aunt and uncle's house and I'm bringing Green Bean Casserole.

(thanks to Flickr for the photo)

It's not something we normally have at Thanksgiving in my family, I don't have a family recipe to use. I've had other people's Green Bean Casserole and so I know I like it, and I'm excited to make it for the first time!

Obviously, I could just Google a recipe, but I'd rather have it come from someone who can say "this is my yummy recipe". That way I know I'm getting a good one!!

I like canned beans and condensed soup! I'm not looking to make this harder than it needs to be! The easier the better!!

Thanks in advance for your help!

What are you guys making for Thanksgiving this year? Anything new? The old family favorites? I love recipes, so let's talk FOOD!!

wire flowers

Hi there!! Sorry for the lack of posts this week. We've been undertaking big renovations here at the Leavitt House. I had no computer or internet for two days at the beginning of the week, and even now I'm set up in a very temporary location. But we're making excellent progress! Picking paint colors is TOUGH but we're getting close. And I REALLY hope everything will be painted and put back together by Thanksgiving. I think the nursery might even be painted and finished this weekend. We'll see how much we can get done!!

ANYWAY - I'll post more about our decorating, remodeling, etc. later! Right now we've got to get on to new products!!

New out today:

"Wire Flowers"

Here's what I scrapped with them:

And here's what the Britt Girls created:

Aren't these little flowers fun?! They go with EVERYTHING!

Ok . . . its that time again. Time to enjoy this week's Show Off Slideshow.

Thanks for sending in your work this week Show Offs. You'll all get my new "Wire Flowers" as your gift this week.

If you'd like to be in the weekly slideshow and get prizes too, read all about how to Show Off HERE.

And thats it for today!! I have to go finish my book club book! Book club is tonight and I'm not even close to finished. These home renovations has soaked up all my time these days! We're reading "Hector and the Search for Happiness" this month. Has anyone out there read it?

See you all later! Have an excellent weekend, everyone!

"Riverbend"

Obviously inspired by everyone's favorite Indian Princess, but its so much more! Perfect for camping, nature walks, and all those other "woodsy" or "earthy" memory.

(Be sure to snag the add-on freebie at the end of the post!)

Here's what I scrapped with it (photos of my family at California Adventure in front of Grizzly Peak).

And check out what the Britt Girls created!

They totally rocked "Riverbend", and showcased it's versatility too!

Ok . . . time to enjoy this week's Show Off Slideshow.

OK - here's that promised add-on freebie I mentioned earlier.

Enjoy! And maybe say a quick hello if you download.

That concludes our regularly scheduled Friday new release post. Hope you are lovin' Riverbend as much as my team and I do! Happy scrapping (and shopping).

new kit tomorrow!!

Hi! Just popping in to give you all a sneak peek at the kit I have coming out tomorrow! I think you're going to love it!

I can't wait to show you the whole thing! See ya tomorrow!!

in the market for a desk?

I just listed this online to sell, but I figured I might as well give any local blog-readers a chance to buy it too!

We're selling this big cool wood desk that we just don't have a place for. (it's hard to get rid of real-life grown-up furniture you actually like but don't have any use for). Remember this old layout?? It's me in our old house with the desk we're selling! Or what about this one? It's this desk in our current house before I got my new white Ikea desk.

ANYWAY - here's the details:

For sale: good-looking wood desk. Measures 30" tall, 57.5" long, and 30" deep. In pretty good condition. Normal wear & tear on the edges, but no major problems. The right-side drawer is actually a keyboard pull-out. Selling to someone local who can come pick it up only!

Asking $65 (firm).

Email me (designerbrittney at gmail dot com) if you're interested!!

stumped

So . . .

We're currently in the midst of ripping our house apart. While I was at Disney World, Josh was a busy guy!  The ugly paneling has FINALLY come down, and the sparkly ceilings have been scraped off!!  YAY!  But now we've got the task of sanding and scraping the old glue off the walls and using plaster to make the walls smooth. Oh joy.

But here's where I'm stumped: I have NO IDEAS for how to decorate the living room. I've got plenty of ideas for the baby's room. But nothing for our front room. Our living room and dining room are one open space. Oh and my "office" area is in this room too. We REALLY want to rip up the carpet and put in wood floors (laminate is fine with us). But we're not sure we have the money to do that yet. So for now the carpet stays I guess.

Do you have any favorite sites, or blogs that have great decorating and/or organizational ideas? I really would like to start envisioning what it could look like and picking a paint color.  From the ideas I've looked at so far, I'm leaning toward white walls.  Is that too boring??

We don't want to buy new furniture so whatever we do needs to work with our current dark brown leather sofa, white desk and white wooden IKEA entertainment center thingy.  We will be in the market, eventually, for a new dining room table and chairs.

Any ideas, links, etc would be greatly appreciated!
